CoNNeCT Cardiology: a Collaborative Nationwide Network of Cardiologists in Training

We are pleased to present CoNNeCT Cardiology, a joint initiative between the British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Collaborative (BHF CRC) and the British Junior Cardiologists Association UK (BJCA UK). This exciting new initiative is designed to empower cardiologists in training to lead the way in cardiovascular research. CoNNeCT Cardiology provides the infrastructure and support for multi-centre research projects, enabling trainees across the UK to collaborate and contribute to advancements in cardiovascular care.

CoNNeCT Cardiology facilitates:

  • Multi-centre data collection and analysis: Streamlining the research process with centralised resources and support.
  • Collaboration: Fostering partnerships between trainees across the UK, enabling larger and more impactful studies.
  • Diverse research: Supporting a range of projects, including prospective observational research, surveys of practise, and registries.

This initiative offers numerous benefits:

  • For trainees: Provides valuable experience in research, fosters collaboration, and enhances career development.
  • For the field: Leads to greater understanding of cardiovascular disease and the development of new treatments.

CoNNeCT Cardiology at BCS 2025

To introduce this exciting initiative, CoNNeCT Cardiology will be featured at the British Cardiovascular Society 2025 conference in Manchester this June in a session called: UK-Wide Research for Every Trainee: No Barriers with CoNNeCT

The session, a joint effort between the BHF CRC and the BJCA, will highlight the importance of trainee involvement in research, showcase how CoNNeCT supports these endeavours, and provide guidance on translating clinical practise into impactful research.

It is a must-attend for trainees in cardiology seeking to expand their research experience and contribute to the advancement of cardiovascular care.
